In response to a series of public complaints regarding unsatisfactory sanitary conditions in various establishments, the Health Department has taken decisive action by conducting a surprise inspection across the city.
These complaints, which highlighted issues ranging from poor hygiene practices to the presence of pests, prompted officials to visit numerous food-related businesses and public facilities unannounced.
The objective of this initiative is not only to ensure compliance with health regulations but also to reassure the community that their health and safety are a top priority.
Residents have expressed relief at the department’s proactive approach, hoping that such inspections will lead to improved standards and accountability within local businesses.
The Health Department team conducted a surprise inspection of multiple hospitals in Handia on Thursday, addressing growing concerns that had been raised by the public regarding the quality of healthcare services.
They responded to serious public complaints that indicated a potential neglect of patient care standards, prompting immediate action.
The inspection was conducted under the careful instructions of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Ashu Pandey, who emphasized the importance of upholding health regulations.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Handia Ambresh Yadav supervised it to ensure that the proceedings adhered to legal requirements and that all hospitals were transparent during the evaluation process.
The goal was to ensure compliance with medical regulations and patient safety standards, as well as to gather data that could inform further improvements in local healthcare facilities.
This proactive measure aimed to restore public trust in the healthcare system and promote a higher standard of care for all patients in the region.
🏥 Chhote Lal & Trauma Center, Baraut
To begin with, the team thoroughly inspected Chhote Lal & Trauma Center in Baraut, focusing on every aspect of its operations.
Acting on the formal complaint filed by Shri Jaichand Maurya, who raised concerns regarding the quality of care and administrative practices, the officials meticulously examined the hospital’s records and operational procedures.
They scrutinized patient treatment protocols, staff qualifications, and compliance with health regulations.
Consequently, after an extensive assessment, they directed that all relevant documents, including medical records, staff credentials, and audit reports, be submitted to the District Magistrate (DM) for further review, ensuring that all aspects of the facility’s functioning would be thoroughly investigated.
⚠️ Jeevan Shakti Charitable Hospital, Ramnathi Nabbe Chauraha
Subsequently, the team visited Jeevan Shakti Charitable Hospital, following a complaint lodged by Shri Shyam Sundar Bind, who expressed serious concerns about the quality of care and operational practices at the facility.
During the thorough inspection conducted by the team, however, the hospital notably failed to produce the required documentation, which included patient records, treatment protocols, and compliance certificates.
This lack of necessary paperwork raised several red flags regarding the hospital’s adherence to established health and safety regulations.
As a result of these findings, a formal notice was issued, instructing the hospital to appear before the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) with all necessary records and to provide a detailed explanation of their operational procedures and patient care practices to address the issues raised in the complaint.
❌ Illegal Clinic Sealed – Dr. Vijan Thakur, Pankaj Nagar
In the next phase of the operation, the team sealed an illegally operated clinic run by Dr. Vijan Thakur near the bustling Pankaj Nagar intersection, a location known for its high foot traffic and clandestine activities.
This decisive action was based on a complaint submitted by Shri Manoj Kumar Singh via the IGRS portal, drawing attention to the unethical medical practices that had reportedly been endangering the health of unsuspecting patients.
The operation was conducted with utmost care to ensure safety and compliance with legal protocols, underscoring the team’s commitment to protecting public health and maintaining the integrity of healthcare services in the area.
As the situation unfolded, local residents expressed relief, hopeful that this intervention would lead to a more secure environment free from illicit medical operations.
🚫 Nandani Hospital and Surgical Center – Registration Suspended
Finally, the inspection team reached Nandani Hospital and Surgical Center in Handia. Shockingly, no doctors or paramedical staff were present at the time, raising immediate concerns about the safety and care of patients.
A patient named Mrs. Pratibha, wife of Vijay Shankar, was found admitted post-cesarean, yet the hospital failed to disclose the attending doctor’s identity, leaving her family anxious about her condition and the standard of care she was receiving.
Moreover, the hospital could not produce mandatory documents such as the Ferro, Fire, and Pollution NOC, leading to serious regulatory violations that jeopardized both patient safety and environmental standards.
As a result of these grave issues, the hospital’s OPD was sealed and its registration suspended, prompting discussions among health authorities about the need for stricter oversight and adherence to medical regulations to protect the well-being of the community.
📝 Official Statement and Press Note
The inspection team included ACMO Registration Dr. RP Pandey, District Health Education Officer Rakesh Jaiswal, and Dr. Pankaj Pandey, all of whom brought their extensive experience and expertise to the evaluation process.
Recognizing the importance of timely communication, the Chief Medical Officer’s office issued Letter No. Mukhya Mantri Aayog/Shika/Choch/2024-25/6681 dated 14.11.2024. In this letter, they not only outlined the critical findings of the inspection but also emphasized the need for public awareness regarding health initiatives.
They requested the District Information Officer to publish this press note to ensure that the key messages reached the community effectively.
Furthermore, they also asked the editors of all daily newspapers in Prayagraj to include it in the 15.11.2024 edition, free of cost, believing that this outreach would enhance awareness and drive positive changes in public health in the region.
