* Description of Information Sought Newswrap • Hindustan Team, Mirzapur Fri, 9 February 2024, 7:15 PM Drummond Ganj, Hindustan Samvad.

 In Semra Kalan village of Drummond Ganj forest range, the forest mafia reached the in a tractor trolley on Friday afternoon on which categorically written forest department and were cutting green trees. 

As soon as the forest department team arrived, the mafia escaped from the spot with a tractor-trolley. The team has started searching for the absconding forest mafia by seizing the cutter machine. 

The forest mafia cut down the canal (bansa) and chilbil trees near Semra Kalan village. When the villagers asked the people who were cutting the trees, they said that the trees are being cut by the forest department. Seeing the forest department staff not on the spot, the villagers found the matter suspicious, so they called Ranger Drummond Ganj and informed about the matter. On the information of the villagers, the ranger sent forest officer Abhishek Singh to the spot. As soon as they got a whiff of the forest guard arrival, the forest mafia, who was cutting wood, escaped from the spot. The forest inspector has taken possession of the cutter machine found on the spot. 

In the area, the forest mafia is openly cutting green trees by writing the forest department in front of the tractor. The villagers have demanded action against the forest mafia. In this context, Ranger Drummond Ganj Virendra Kumar Tiwari said that serus and chilbil are exempt species trees. The tractor trolley on which forest department was written did not belong to the department of forest. The forest department is written on the tractor trolley in the area and those who cut trees are being traced. Action will be taken against them assured by the dept of the forest. 

PIO may provide the following information point wise as follows. 

1- Provide the name and designation of the staff who got a registered first information report in the matter if not registered provide the reason for it.  

2- Provide the name and designation of the staff who reached the site on the information of the villagers nearby. 

3- Provide the cause of failure to nab the forest Mafia despite the proper intimation by the villagers nearby by the personnel of the Department of forest. 

4- Please provide the action taken by the department against the personnel whose dereliction increased the activities of forest mafia in the area. 

5- Please provide the name, designation, posting details and date of joining of the concerned ranger responsible for the failure to curb the cutting of green trees on a large scale.
